The church of the iron walrus started almost unoticed in the cornfields iowa. A group of drunkin frat boys and sorority sister thought they saw an iron walrus that clamed to be the almighty creator of the universe.
As a joke, they set up a web site and started the church of the iron walrus.for a twenty doller fee, you could become an ordaned minister of the iron walrus. The only requrement was to sware aligience to the iron walrus they called iron edie.
People actualy joined the church.it grew. These ‘churches’ were set up. People started attending these assemblies. Hyims were written and a holly book.
It was more of a fan club then anything else. There was an iron efie telivision show and movie. It took off in colleges and school.
In America, secularism had grown. The first amendment had been watered down. The last four president has been either athiest, non religius, hindu or Jewish. Christianity played almost no role in American culture or government.
Christianity had not disappeared. There was a remnant. It was slowly building up. Christianity was making a slow but steady comeback. It went virtualy unoiticed.
The iron edies grew in popularity as well. They started getting elected to congress. They elected the first iron edie president. The political ring of the iron edies pased a law that made iron edies the oficial church of the united sates. The 31st amendment allowed for a sate religion so long as sixty percent of those who votted voted yes.
This began a time of oficial sate persecution of Christians in the united sates. There were some christians who tried to compromise with the church. There were ways to merge the two faiths. Manny refused. It , of course came with a price.
Christians did not protest. They did stage demonstrations. They qietly did not submit to what they saw as unlawful acts. They knew even that would cause trouble. Of course it did.
Ellie was a young adult who was raised in a Christian home. Her farther pastored a smal church in a rural area in the midwest. Growing up, no one brothered the church. Interest in traditional interest had dwindered but there had not been much animostity.
“Dad? Mom? Whats going on?” ellie asked. “The president signed the religius harnony bill into law. Things are going to be diccy. We might all end up in prison. Be strong. Things wont be easy. ” her dad told her.
During a church service, the church of the iron walrus sent members to verify complience of the new law. The members were required to sign a paper saying that they swore allegiance to the church of the iron walrus. Sign it and they were on there way.dont and face imprisonment.
The members of the missioners as they were called, entered the room. They satted there bussiness. Everyone in the room refused to sign it.that included ellie.
They were all arrested. Elie could not believe that this was happening when the cuffs were placed on her. She and the orthers were transported to a lock up.
They were taken to a large room. There were male and female prisonors seated. They wore orange prison jumpsuits. They were restrained. There eyes were pried oppen. They wanted to force the prisonors to watch the new arival.
Elie was forced to take off her cloths.she took off her purple blouse. She pulled it up to her head and pued it off. She then unzipped her black skirt. She let it fall to her feet. She pulled the skirt off. She then took her white slip off. She unclasped her bra and pulled it off she pulled down her painties.
One of the prisioners, don was forced to see her. He tried to not see it. He did not want them to win.
She was forced to shower with other men and women. She dried herself off. She put on an orange jump suit and sandles. Prison oficials loved to force Christian female prisonors to wear pants. They liked to make Christian uncomfortable.
Odd sense the first generation of the church of the iron walrus did bot consider itself to be the one true faith. It was a joke. Now they were an exclusive faith.
She was sent to a cell. She saw that her cell mate was a man. She felt uncomfortable wearing her sandles. She liked to go batefoot. Was that non modest not weaeing shoes in front of a man? She had no idea. Usualy this was something she would ask her dad.
“Hi!” she said. “Hi im don. ” he said. “Are you of the way?” she asked. “Yes indeed. I assume you are as well. “He said. She smiled and said yes.
“This is a bit awkward. I think they want it that way. ” ” he said. “I think so too. ” she said.
“We can still be holly in spite of all thise circumstances. ” he declared. “I know that. I am determined to stay holly. ” she asured him. ” i have no doubt of that. I know that you will succeed. He that began a good work in you is able to complete it in you. “He said. She smiled. “In you as well.”she said.
They talked and talked. She kept her sandles on for now.she felt so sad. She wanted to be held. She wanted to be hugged. She knew that she could not show any physical contact. It could be the aperence of evil.they could show it to fellow believers and pit them against the orther belevers. It could also chip at there faith and resolve. It could give temptation. She wanted to stay strong. She wanted some comfort. It was natural. She would be strong.
After a while she needed to pee. “Can you turn around?” she asked. “Of course. ” he said. He turned around. She pulled down her pants and underware. She peed into the toilet. She put her cloths back on.
It was close to lights out. They got into seperate beds. She took off her sandles when she was in the covers.
Don was a total gentleman. It was not easy. He had seen her naked. They forced it earlier. He kept remembering it. He tried to ignore it.
The days were dificult. They tried to keep things together. They kept things in check. They did well.
It had been a month sense they were incarcerated. It was hard mounth. Nether one had compromised.
In the yard he went to a mam who many considered the prison pastor. “If we woved to the lord marriage. Would it be a biblical mariege?” he asked. “Yes if you vowed to the lord it would. You would be bound to it for the rest of your lives. I must warn you if the oficials learned of it, they might move you two out of spite. ” the pastor said.
Later. “I want to ask you something. ” don asked her. “Alright. What is it?” he asked her. “Will you mary me? I dont have a ring. ” he asked. She smiled. “I would love to. Yes!” she said.
The “pastor” officiated the ‘wedding’. Manny attended the magshift event. She did not have a dress but wore the prison garb. He pronounced them husband and wife. They kissed.
After the yard time was over, they were taken back to there cell. He held her. She so wanted to be held by him for a long time.
He held her. She rested her head on him. He petted her head. He played with her hair.
After a while she kissed him. She indicated to him that she was ready. They took off each others cloths. He got inside her. She begged him to go harder. He did so.
The oficials got wind of it. They were moved to seperate cells. Both stayed faithful. She soon discovered she was pregnant.
The prison oficials refused to tell him. Both prayed to be reunited. She was gerting close to giving birth. A lady who used to be a nurse helped her deliver a healrhy baby girl.
Two days after grace eluzebeth waa born, the new president took office. He ordered all prisonors released.
He found his wife elie and his daughter. They hugged. They were able to get there asets back. He got his house back.
The church fell into disrepute. The law making the iron walrus church the oficial church was repealed. Life went back to normal. Grace got a brother and sister.
